Battle at Fort Sumter
1861
The battle of Fort Sumter was the bombardment and plunder of Fort Sumter, which sparked the Civil War into action. The government in South Carolina demand that all U.S. troops be evacuated out of the fort. General Anderson then moved his troops into the fort, and in an attempt to resupply the troops, president Buchanan’s supply ship was sunk by the Confederates. Later, the Confederates would then take all of the federal goods in the Charleston area.
