Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was a Illinois senator and eventual president of the U.S. After his election to president in 1860, the southern states seceded from the Union. During the Civil War the Commander and Chief continued to try and unite the Union, which eventually occurred in 1865. Shortly thereafter, he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in Ford’s theater. After his death he was remembered as one of the greatest presidents to have ever governed over the U.S.
