William Sherman
William Tecumseh Sherman was a Union general who had many achievements. He captured Atlanta in September 1864, burning it down in November. He next moved on to South Carolina and invaded and destroyed it. Also, he advocated for total war, a very grotesque and brutal form of war. William Sherman had “Shermanized the south.”
"I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.
