George McClellan
George McClellan was a military general and the 24th governor of New Jersey. During the civil war he played the role of being a needle in Lincoln’s side. When Lincoln first assigned him the position of general, he was deemed ineffective due to his inability to use his industrial and numerical advantage during battles. After being replaced by dozens of other generals, Lincoln eventually returned to McClellan and asked him again to be general, and again, he was ineffective in battle. During the 1864 election, McClellan ran against Lincoln and undermined everything Lincoln said or did. Although he did not win the race, he caused a major headache for Mr. Lincoln.
